Why Safety Awareness is a Core Part of SocialWise VR’s New Scenarios

At SocialWise VR, we are committed to creating experiences that not only help neurodiverse learners build social skills but also provide them with the tools to stay safe in everyday situations. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new set of scenarios focused on safety awareness.

Why Safety Awareness?

For neurodivergent adults, navigating social interactions often comes with unique challenges. In addition to understanding social cues and practicing communication, individuals must also be equipped with the skills to recognize and respond to potentially harmful situations. This includes understanding boundaries, identifying manipulation, and knowing how to seek help when necessary.

Our new safety scenarios help learners practice essential safety skills such as:

Recognizing Overcharging – Identifying when someone is unfairly increasing costs in a transaction.

Stranger Danger – Learning how to evaluate and respond to interactions with unfamiliar individuals.

Sextortion Awareness – Gaining the knowledge to detect and avoid exploitation or blackmail.

Coercion – Understanding how to resist unwanted pressure and protect personal autonomy.

Manipulation – Recognizing and responding to attempts at influencing or controlling behavior inappropriately.

Empowering Neurodivergent Adults

By incorporating these safety measures into our scenarios, SocialWise VR empowers neurodivergent users to better protect themselves from harm, both online and in-person. Practicing these skills in a controlled, virtual environment fosters a sense of autonomy and confidence, making it easier to apply these strategies in the real world.

We are passionate about making sure that our learners feel equipped not just with social skills, but with the knowledge and awareness to safeguard their well-being. These scenarios provide practical, hands-on training that reinforces safety and self-advocacy.

What’s Next?

This is just the beginning! We will continue to expand our library of safety scenarios, focusing on everyday interactions that can sometimes pose risks. Stay tuned as we roll out more innovative and practical tools to help neurodiverse learners thrive—safely and confidently.
